New Orleans Report
Just got back from New Orleans. It was a fabulous trip. I wanted to thank everyone on this board for the wonderful tips and suggestions that made my trip perfect. Hopefully this will be of help to someone else. We did not have one single bad dining experience. Every restaurant was wonderful. K-Paul's; Brigsten's; Mr. B's Bistro for jazz brunch (yummy BBQ shrimp!); Arnaud's Richelieu Room for a fun jazz experience and people watching (not to mention fabulous dinner esp Shrimp Arnaud); Commander's Palace for lunch after a Garden District walking tour; ACME Oyster's for great po-boys and jumbalaya; great muffaleta at Central Grocery; and an absolutely delicious meal at Bayona. And, of course, beignets at Cafe du Monde. Everything was perfect, the exact experiences we were looking for. We stayed at the Iberville Suites and we couldn't have asked for better service, they in fact exceeded all expectations. The rooms were very nice, location was within walking distance to the entire Quarter and streetcar to the Garden District, and complimentary breakfast was quite good. I cannot say enough good things about them. My only advice is to make reservations early, we never had to wait at any restaurants and were taken immediately to our table. Thank you all again for all your help in planning my perfect trip and hope this helps someone else!

Hi Kate
So glad to hear you had a great time. We're off to NO in about two weeks' time and I can't wait. We have made reservations at Arnaud's, but nowhere else yet. Reading your post has encouraged me to phone up Commander's Palace as soon as I log off.
Take care
Catherine

Yes, we did the restaurant tour of New Orleans. We made our reservations about 2 months in advance for most restaurants. The restaurants that I talked about going to are very popular and the reservations go fast. The food was wonderful but we did do other things. The walking tours of the Garden District and the French Quarter were very interesting. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the city. I recommend New Orleans Tours or Historic New Orleans Walking Tours. We did not get to do a swamp tour but heard great things about them. We went to the Visitor's Center in Jackson Square and got some good information about the city and the tours. We also took a carriage ride at night through the Quarter. It lasted about 30 min. or so and we enjoyed it as well.
