New Orleans po' boys!// cabs/ ice cream?

We will be staying in the French Quarter. Where should we go for really good po' boys?

From the Fairgrounds, Jazz Fest, considering midweek traffic, how long will it take for a cab to drive to the French Quarter? Is it easy to get a cab at the Fairgrounds?

Considering mid week traffic, how long will it take a cab to drive from the French Quarter to the airport?

Any special place to go for ice cream in New Orleans? French Quarter?

Ice Cream ->Angelo Brocato has amazing ice cream. When you enter, look at the door frame - you can see the high water mark from Katrina - about 3 feet from ground!

FWIW, the food at JazzFest is awesome (but the lines are long). I dream of etouffe.

About 1/2 hour from the airport, and 10 minutes from the fairgrounds, to the French Quarter.

I loved the po'boys at Cooter Brown's. Take the streetcar through the Garden district and get off at the river bend. Great sightseeing ride and great po-boys

If fabulous gelato is a possibility (rather than ice cream) try La Divina's

or Sucre's

A cab from MSY to the Quarter is a fixed rate of $33 plus tip

We had our Po' boy at the famous Johnny's and it was good. Best upscale meal Mr. B Bistro

Ro-Bears is my boys' favorite (mainly because it's the best/closest one to my mother's house).

Another list that includes a map of the locations.

Cafe du Monde is a landmark/historical cafe with beignets and chickory coffee. It opened in 1872 and is still in business.
