New Orleans, best month

Looking to book a trip to New Orleans this year. Any suggestions as to the best month to travel? Weather.com states that Oct is best, but isn't that during hurricain season?

Yes, October is in hurricane season, but the odds of being there during a hurricane are extremely small. The hurricane season doesn't end until the end of November, but if bad weather (a hurricane) develops you'll have several days before it goes aground.

In general, I'd say that the best weather in NO is either spring or fall. Late summer is perfectly miserable - high temps and higher humidity.

Depending on what you are looking for, New Orleans is a 12 month a year 24/7 city. Just don't go wandering into the wrong neighborhood after dark.

We thought that May was absolutely lovely if you don't mind the possibility of some heat.

Spring is perfect, warm enough but not oppressively hot, humidity isn't bad either. I'd pick either March or April, probably mid to late April to avoid spring breakers.

Late Oct is my favorite time in New Orleans. That's why I planned my wedding for that time - generally nice temps and little rain.

Wish I had done better planning my 2nd pregnancy. A late August due date was AWFUL!!!!!!

There's not a bad month to visit NOLA. Some are busy and some are hot. Some are chilly and some are not busy. Here's a link to NOLA events. Pick a month that's not busy and check room rates. I love January. Nothing is going on. The spring has MG and a lot of festivals as well as conventions. The summer is hot and quiet. That does not bother me it's hot at home. Just pick a time when room rates are reasonable and you will enjoy your visit.
