I already purchased flight tickets to lasvegas (in&out)

My little son, 8 years old, really wants to be a junior ranger of all the parks.

4/12 - Sedona

4/13 - White sands national monument - Alamogordo

4/14 - Carlsbad cavern national park - El paso

4/15 - Saguaro national park - Tuscon
I am not decided to visit Bisbee and Thompston

4/16 Desert museum - Montezuma castle national monument - Sedona

4/17 Sedona

4/18 -Las vegas (Le vere Show)

4/19 Las vegas out

I hope you guys will recommed some places I should do visit
and good restaurants. And some hotels recommended will be helpful...
Through this trip, I hope my son will experience nature, trail and something like that.

Thank you...

You are spending way too much time driving and not enough time in the parks.

You are missing some very interesting parks, like Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce that are much closer to Vegas and could include a loop with Sedona and Petrified Forest. I've done some long road trips, but would not want to have an 8 yo. in a car for that much time. Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico is a LOOOONG way from Vegas.

If this is planned for this April, you are way late in getting lodging in/near the parks. If this is to be a view of the sites as they whiz by the car window without actually experiencing the wonderful places you mention, then look for places to stay near the interstates along the route.

Thanks for a comment.
But I already travelled to Grandcanyon, Zion, Page, Moab last summer.
So this time I will focus on Santa fe, Carlsbad and somewhere that I have not ever been.
I know it includes looooong drive

I understand now, on your first night, if you find you are late getting out of Vegas, you might be able to get lodging last minute at the casino/hotel just before Hoover Dam.

f you have time for one more NP, while you are in Santa Fe, check out Bandelier National Monument, about an hour east. If you want to see a couple of pictures of it you can go to

click on albums, the 2013 album and/or the 2008 album to see some.

Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe is Tent Rocks State Park where many enjoy hiking.

On looking at the places you are visiting this time, most do not have lodging in the park. We've had luck with last minute/walk in lodging at the casino hotels and you don't have to gamble to stay in them.

Many people like the Pink Jeep tours in Sedona, although if you have a park pass and a 4wd you can visit most of the places they go on your own.

I should consider Bandelier NM. Your picture album will be very helpful for me....
Tent Rocks Park, I should look into....
And continuously check the last minute of casino hotel ^^
I maybe try Pink jeep tours...

Saguaro NP is very quick as there's not much there. It's more like a state park in level of interest.

Phoenix would have been a better gateway to this area.

Albuquerque has more to offer families with children than Santa Fe, but if you are set on Santa Fe, then yes, go to Bandelier.

You will have very little time to go to Tent Rocks if you're heading to Alamogordo the next day.

Thanks Lee Ann
I am now skipping Albuquerque
as Santa fe is more famous than Albuquerque.
Bandelier and Tent Rocks will be examined if we will go or not.
Thank you very much for your comment
