Need suggestions for 4 nts in Chatham in Mid Aug
I have already booked a nice Inn in Chatham next month for a getaway with my husband (leaving the kids behind). We've never been to the Cape, so looking for suggestions on what to do - where to eat. I would like to plan something for each day, but not over-book our weekend as we definitely want to relax and not race around the cape. I was thinking one day in P-Town for whale watching or renting bikes. Planning a dinner at Impudent Oyster, but don't have many other plans. Suggestions on what else we should see? Would like to enjoy as much as we can without having to drive too far. Thanks!

Gene's given you some good advice.
Once you get to the inn, they will have a myriad of suggestions for both Chatham, Orleans, Wellfleet and Provincetown.
Chatham has band concerts one night in the summer, around the green. They have tours of the Chatham Lighthouse on weekends. A trip to the Chatham fish pier is fun to watch them unload their catch.
renting bicycles and kayaks are a great option. The Seashore Center in Eastham has programs kayaking from Salt Pond out to the leeward side of the barrier beach, they supply the kayaks. Or, you can go to Gull Pond in Wellfleet, and kayak the large Gull pond, and it;s tributaries, renting from Jack's, right there at the pond.
Provincetown is fun. Do book a dune tour with Art. Very worth while.
Fanizzi's by the Sea, Napi's,ther Mews, Front Street, all terrific places in P'town for dinner. Lunch- I love the Portugese Bakery, taking my lunch outside behind the Whalers Wharf and eating at a picnic table looking out to sea.
Wellfleet also has many art galleries, touring on Saturday evening you will be enticed with wine and cheese at many.Hiking Great Island, part of the National Seashore is fun.Theater abounds- in Chatham, there is the Monomoy, with a wonderful variety. In Wellfleet, W.H.A.T. has two venues, one on the Harbor, the other at the Julie Harris stage, their new theatre. in Truro, there is the Payomet Theatre, weith Shakespeare, as well as other offerings. And in Brewster, one has the Repertory Theatre on route 6a,
Restaurants-Nauset Beach Club in Orleans. Brewster Fish House in Brewster.Blackfish in Truro. Wicked Oyster in Wellfleet. Buca's in Harwich, just over the Chatham line. For local color, or lunch, The Squire in Chatham, or Land Ho in Orleans.
If you google each towns events, for the dater of your stay, you will find many more. It is very easy to overbook-for each town will have something special going on every weekend.
have fun!!
