Need San Antonio hotel

We are going to a conference next March which is being held at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk. As all the suites seem to be booked already, I am tossing up between taking a room there for myself and my young family, or looking for perhaps a suite with a kitchenette in a nearby hotel (much easier with kids). Can anyone recommend any other hotels within walking distance of the Hyatt? It's on Losoya St, San Antonio. Looking for something in the 3 star range, could do 4 stars at a pinch.

Thanks in advance

My favorite is the Hotel Contessa. All suites, beautiful, reasonable. No kitchenette but have a refrigerator. Not sure of proximity to HyTt.

I don't have any personal experience with this hotel, but perhaps Homewood Suites would work for you. http://www.homewoodsuitesriverwalk.com/index.php

Here is a map of the Riverwalk showing the hotels. Maybe it will help. http://www.sanantonio.gov/ada/pdf/Ri...ndSept2011.pdf

You may have already decided against the Hyatt, but I was just there for a conference and it was lovely. It is right on the Riverwalk, in fact the river is diverted through the lobby. We were just two people but we enjoyed the hotel and the food was brilliant.

I was there a few weeks ago, and hit on the Emily Morgan hotel as a priceline 4*. I was a little disappointed at first, because it had the lowest rating among the 4* hotels on priceline in SA. However, the place was really nice, and we enjoyed it immensely. We got the room for $76, and paid $20 to upgrade to a 14th floor suite, which was very nice and very comfortable. Nice little bar downstairs, and directly across the street from the Alamo. About 1-2 blocks from Riverwalk.
