Need Mackinaw City hotel suggestions
We go up to Mackinaw City for a weekend most years and have always stayed at Clearwater Lakeshore Motel. Lately the place seems to be going down hill and last year the beach was not being well maintained and was covered with goose droppings. Time to find a new place!
We want to be on the water with a balcony. Great bridge views are a big plus, that's what we liked best about Clearwater Lakeshore. Any suggestions?
We'd also consider staying on Mackinac Island but with a budget of $250 or less per night it doesn't look like we could get anything on the water there. Dates are open but it would be one of the first 3 weekends in June or late July/first half of August.
Thanks!

I've felt the same way about the Clearwater Lakeshore and have been considering the Riviera Motel if one of the two end units on the upper floor by the water are available.
We tried the Sunrise Beach and it had very tiny rooms. Smaller than in Europe.
The Chippewa Hotel on Mackinac Island would be within your budget the first two weeknds of June.
If you give up the water, I really like the Deerhead Lodge B&B. Friendly people, great breakfasts and a great location - quiet, but a short walk to everything.

Thanks Keith, I was hoping you'd reply to this. Sunrise Beach was one we were considering but smaller than Europe? Hmm, maybe not. I'll check out the Chippewa. I'm also considering Mackinaw Beach and Bay Inn and Suites. Seems to get decent reviews.

We ended up booking Mackinaw Beach and Bay Inn and Suites for May 31 - June 2. Rate was $79 per night so I can get 2 nights for less than one night on the island. Hard to pass that up! I'll report back on how it was.

We are staying at the Lighthouse View Motel the week before. It will be our first time there. The MB&BI is owned by the same group which has bought up most of the large waterfront motels. Based on their previous actions, I can't bring myself to use them.
