Need Itinerary/Accomodation Suggestions for Western Washington State
we're planning a trip through washington state - 1 night in seattle, 2 nights in the olympic mountain range (one in port angeles perhaps, and another further south west along the coast), 1 night in cannon beach, and then 2 nights somewhere in the cascade mountain range.
do people have suggestions of good places to stay that are cute, clean and reasonably priced? its two friends travelling together - and we'd love to spend no more than $100/night on rooms (if at all possible). we love small, cute, bed and breakfasts, but anything will do.
associated with this - we'd love advice on what towns make sense to spend a night in on the trip.
thanks

When are you coming? Most places in Cannon Beach have a 3 night minimum in the summer months and prices are generally higher then. If your trip is off-season then you might have a better chance of staying close to your budget.

Sorry - I should have specified.
We're actually landing in Seattle this Friday -- all very last minute, I know! Which is part of our worry at this point. We're imagining it might be impossible to just find places along the way this late in the game.

Oh, goodness. That puts you here in Seattle in the middle of a huge Microsoft conference that's eaten up most hotel rooms in the area. You might be able to find something near the airport or I suppose B&Bs may not be as impacted by the conference. Have you tried seeing if there are any Seattle B&Bs associations you could call? That would be my suggestion. Or you could plan on heading right out to the peninsula from the airport, and doing Seattle at the end, but then that would put you here during Seafair which is also very busy/crowded.
It's going to be tough to find places on the way and given how little time you're alloting to each place, you could spend several hours each day looking for accommodations and then not really have time to really *see* anything.

we have a friend who lives in seattle, so we're all taken care of for seattle accomodations.
we're open to other suggestions in terms of itinerary. we really don't want to be that rushed, and so are open to slowing the trip down a little - i really have never been to the northwest, and this was just a recommended itinerary to me.
anyway, would love any suggestions on better itineraries - basically we have a week (from friday - to - friday) to get from seattle to portland. we'd like to spend friday night in seattle, and thursday night in portland. other than that we're very flexible.
the pictures of the olympic peninsula all seem amazing - hence why its the first stop.

Oh, ok that's good about Seattle.
I'd spend 2 nights out around Port Angeles/Sequim to give yourselves time to go hiking out there (maybe start with the Tudor Inn in Port Angeles, or do a search for B&Bs in the area and just start calling), then another night at Lake Quinault if you can get into the Lodge--but it'll be more than $100. You'll probably have to stay somewhere other than Cannon Beach if you do go to the Oregon coast, not only because of the 3 night minimum but also because most places in Cannon Beach are going to cost far more than $100--but try the Cannon Beach Hotel Lodgings to see if they have a one night "hole" and can accommodate you. Otherwise, maybe you can find something in Gearhart, Arch Cape or Manzanita--I'm not a big fan of Seaside although it probably has more choices for lodging.
You could go from the OR coast to the Columbia River Gorge/Mt Hood area for Wed night--Vagabond Lodge in Hood River is a good inexpensive motel or you can look for B&Bs.

Two places that friends of ours like are Juan de Fuca Cottages (at Dungeness, near Sequim):
http://www.juandefuca.com/
and Kalaloch Lodge on the coast:
http://www.visitkalaloch.com/
The cottages website shows they are fully booked for Saturday, but one cabin available on Sunday. You could also google "Port Angeles Bd and Breakfast"---I think there are several from which to choose.
Further to the west, near the rainforest, you'll find Lake Quinault Lodge:
http://www.visitlakequinault.com/
You should be able to find something at one of these mid-week. Hopefully our weather will improve for you.
