A couple of years ago we stayed in a small motel named, Your Place or Your House OR Our Place, can't remember the name for sure, but think it was Your Place. It was very nice right in the heart of Amish country. If you go, you should check out the Sights and Sound Theater. We saw their Christmas play there in December 2000 and it was wonderful. They put on 3 or 4 different plays a year.

Dear Vandahna, there are dozens of fine motels, and many B&B's in that area. Too many to list really, but there are a couple of unique restaurants you might enjoy. One is Plain and Fancy, the other Good and Plenty. Seating is at a table for 12, I believe, and food is served family style, and it's quite delicious, and not very expensive. Be sure to try some shoo-fly pie.

A place to skip, IMHO, is Miller's Outpost. Not that the food is bad -- actually, it's good and I *DO* recommend stopping at its bakery and quilt shop. But the buffet is always jammed, and the price you pay for the food doesn't justify stopping there.
I do note shoofly pie as a "must-eat" while you're in the area.

Check out http://www.800padutch.com/mem-att.shtml
for an excellent listing of attractions, etc. We really enjoyed touring one Amish home/farm, even though we have seen lots of "old" New England houses (Sturbridge, etc. etc.)
You don't indicate when you are going, but if it is on: GREEN DRAGON MARKET AND AUCTION 995 North State Street, phrata, PA 717-738-1117:is a great Amish fair & market.
