If you are interested in wineries, I would stay in Hermann. There are some very romantic B&B's there, plus the wineries are great.
As far as around St. Louis, there are plenty of romantic restaurants in the downtown area. And you can top it off with a carriage ride around the city.
Are you from St. Louis, or travelling into the area for your anniversary?
Technically from here, but just moved here. Still learning where everything is
I also think Hermann would be a good choice. Website here www.hermannmo.info/
The wine trails are really fun, and the chocolate and wine trail is feb 16-17 if those dates work for you.
There are quite a few wineries in MO www.missouriwine.org/
Many of the nice hotels have "romantic" packages - You could do a spa package at The Ritz and enjoy a massage, have dinner in the restaurant or room service.
There are many great restaurants/bars in this area .
What kind of food do you like?
A drive up the scenic river road past Alton, etc there are many towns with B&B's = you could go all the way up to Galena, IL which has skiing and many reat lodges, etc...
I just got an email form a really cool lodge about an hour out of STL - I will look for it and post a link
Here is the link - I have alwys wanted to check this place out! It is in Illinois

I cant think of anything else!
Thank you so much!!!!
We spent our first anniversary at the Garth Mansion in Hannibal. They had a nice package deal with gifts in our room, and then we did a riverboat dinner cruise. Hannibal is not as scenic as Hermann but still lovely and quaint, and the Garth mansion and surrounding area is very romantic.
The Southern Hotel in Ste. Genevieve is very romantic. We spent one night of our honeymoon there. It's a B&B. Also, check out the Schoolhouse Bed and Breakfast in Rocheport, just west of Columbia. It's about two hours from St. Louis. It's the best B&B I've ever stayed in, hands down. Rocheport is a little town on the Missouri River, and there are antique shops and a winery called Les Bourgious that has an awesome restaurant. They've got a web site.
