need help with hotels and section of San Diego to stay in

I have narrowed my hotel search to the Bahia Resort on Mission Bay and the Marriott in Coronado - I'm really having trouble making a decision. I would love to stay on Coronado, but my husband thinks it would be too boring. I think it would be picturesque and the Marriott seems really nice. The Bahia is in an excellent location near Mission Bay and the beach with lots of boardwalk action nearby which would be great for kids. However, I read the Bahia's room are really shabby. Does anyone know which area is more desirable and can anyone give me more info on the Bahia Resort and the Marriott. Thanks so much.
