My husband and I are planning a trip to Boston for a few days. We would like to take one day and drive up the coast to Maine and stay over night. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good place for dinner and a nice hotel someplace on the coast of Maine? I don't think we want to drive much further than Portland. I have heard Kennebunk is nice, anyplace else? Thanks for the help!!

Kennebunkport is a very nice town with lots of inns and restaurants. Ogunquit is another pretty but busy town, but I prefer Kennebunkport. Go to Ogunquit to walk the Marginal Way
Really good but more reasonably priced are Bandaloop in Dock Square and Pier 77 in nearby Cape Porpoise (a very pretty setting over the water in a cove near active lobster boats). I've been to both many times.
When are you going? After Labor Day prices at the inns go down a bit. What kind of food do you like and what is your budget? White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport is is considered one of the best restaurants in the northeast, and you can also stay there. It's a little too expensive for me, but maybe some day
Portland has some great restaurants too, but if you're going to be in Boston and want a change of scenery, I would stick to a smaller place like K'port. Do try to get to the lighthouses nearby
