Need help. Obitz rate on hotel lower than when I call hotel directly? ??

Help please. I went online to get a hotel for a trip to Buffalo. (Amherst NY) I got a $104 rate from Obitz..and even lower ones from other internet sites. I called the hotel directly and the lowest rate she had was $126! She implied these internet rates were not legitimate or maybe I interpreted it that way.

Can someone help me...if I get a reservation from Obitz will it be honored at the hotel?..I have never done a hotel online before so I don't know.

Thank you as usual

Orbitz and other sites are usually lower than rates you can get by callign the hotel directly. I have booked many rooms and flight using Orbitz and have never had a problem. Hotel probably gave you that impression to make more money, not much of a surprise. Find the best rate you can, and book it.

I called a hotel, and they explained this way: they post special internet rates so people make reservations without a live person on the phone, it saves money. And it was not even Orbitz, it was hotel's own website!

Just check the cancellation policy if you are not 100% sure you'll be there.

Few days before arrival call the hotel directly to confirm - I always do that.
