See www.thebus.org which shows bus 20 and 42 going from Ala Moana Blvd to Arizona Memorial area. Have 2$ exact change either way. Can also see the Bowfin museum, and some food tents in between. By the tent are shuttles back to Waikiki and possibly ones to the Missouri ship museum. There are also various commercial shuttles to the museum, but the city bus works fine although a bit crowded for the start of the journey (after that sit near the driver for advice in getting off)

If you are short in time, take a cab. (costs abt. $ 30.) one way. On the way back you might take the bus.
Be in Pearl Harbor as early as possible. Tickets are handed out in "first-come etc. basis at the visitor center.
You will be give a time when to board the vseel to the memorial.
On busy days sometimes tickets are gone at 11.00 am or noon already!!!

If you're not going to rent a car, request the concierge to arrange travel for you. You're staying at one of the largest hotels on the island...they can do it for you.

PS. Absolutely NO bags - even those of cameras - are allowed to bring in.
You will see a big white tent, near teh visitor center where you can leave those bags ( $ 3.-).
(But if you put them altogether in one bag it still is $ 3.-....)

Thanks for the tips! Does anyone have any idea on how long the bus trip takes to Pearl Harbor from the Ala Moana area? For those who have gone there-would you take the bus, rent car or cab it for limited hours? I have heard such horror stories on the rental cars/parking lot and breakins that I was not interested in renting. However, if you all feel it is better please advise. Thanks again-leaving tomorrow night.

If you want to get out and about and see more of Oahu, then I'd get a rental car for the trip. If not, then just cab it to Pearl Harbor.
