47 year old woman that had breast cancer in 2005 and it is back again in 2006. I am a single mom, the man in my life is leaving because he cannot deal with the cancer anymore. I need help finding a nice but very inexpensive apartment or duplex with utilities paid until I get through this round of cancer. I work part time in a law firm, so I am not homeless as of yet. I would like to live near Hold Middle School to keep from disrupting my childs life. He is a very polite 12 year old. This could be a great tax write off for someone. I would greatly appreciate any help that might be sent my way. I have looked and looked..I have a friend that I work with that use to be a police officer and he deters me from places that are not appropriate for me or my son. I promise to take very good care of a place considered. I pretty much have the things I need to set up housekeeping....Please help.

I am sorry for your situation, but this board is not likely to be helpful. I suggest instead you contact various social service agencies, social work department in hospital that has treated you, Craigslist, etc.
I am so sorry to hear about the breast cancer. My mom has had it twice - at 48 and 59, and she's a healthy 69 now!
Best of luck with your treatment.
However, we don't even know WHERE you live! What town, let alone what state?
I would try local ads, like craislist.com or the local newspaper.
Or, if you tell us where you are, maybe somebody here will have more specific ideas.
Hugs,
K
Hello bethany, you sound like a strong and loving woman and mother. I am sorry for the return of your cancer but fight the good fight as it seems as though medical discoveries are being made constantly..I just read about a new pill for breast cancer patients that has the medical community quite excited.
It would be good if you would post where you live..it is amazing how often Fodorites come up with excellant suggestions and ideas.
I agree you should contact the social worker at your hospital. Also, does your hospital have a womens support group? Most places seem to. Besides emotional help there might be someone that could guide you regarding your living accomodations.
I send you all my good wishes and prayers that you and your son find a suitable place to live and that you are quickly on the road to recovery.
