Returning to the city where we met in the 80s for a nice romantic anniversary weekend early August, heading to a Red Sox game, staying at Copley Marriott....we love the Northend. Open to suggestions. Italian, seafood..... We like food that's creative, fresh and lots of flavor. Any suggestions?

Sounding like a broken record - but try Scampo at the Liberty Hotel, which if you were here in the 80s would know as the Charles Street Jail.

I'd probably try Erbaluce....Italian, but a little different, and creative.

Or go to Cambridge....Craigie on Main, Puritan &Co, West Bridge, Oleana....those are some of the best restaurants in the city.

Look at Ostra, Deuxave, Sorellina, and in the North End, Mamma Maria's. Also Bistro du Midi.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary just last week with dinner at Deuxave. It's at the corner of Mass Ave and Commonwealth Ave. It was excellent. They also have an extensive wine list, if you're into that.

I also really like Sorellina.

Asta is the most creative place in Boston proper. My favorite place in Boston. Not "fancy" in terms of atmosphere, but fantastic, modern food. Very thoughtful wine choices if you get the pairing.

Also think Deuxave is a good choice.

Fanciest would probably be L'Espalier or Menton. I wasn't that crazy about L'Espalier and thought Menton was kind of a joke.

I've been moderately disappointed on my last couple of trips to West Bridge and don't think it rates among the best any more (if it ever did). It is still good and can be fun, but not among the best.

I'd second Erbaluce as the best Italian in the city. Not sure it is that creative, but it is much better than the typical Boston Italian restaurant.
