Need advice for New England roadtrip
Hey everyone. I'm planning to take a road trip from Alabama to New Hampshire next month. I'll be going through Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, along with everywhere in between. I'm planning to stop by Gettysburg; Plymouth Rock; Salem, MA; and Harvard University.
I need some advice for my trip. Things to do/not do on a road trip. Places I need to stop and see. Or, any other advice you'd like to give me. Thanks.

You can get a lot of good ideas and advice by reading past threads on each of those topics. Just go to the "Search this forum" box and either check off the state or enter the name of a city or attraction. How much time do you have?

On key point:
Watch the weather carefully as you go - since you're likely to run into some snow/ice - perhaps a lot. And you don;t want to be caught trying to drive in it without the proper equipment:
ice scraper for windows
long-handled brush to remove snow from the car
snow shovel
Something (cardboard or bagsof cat litter) to put under the wheels if you get stuck on ice
And if you're not used to the spedical skills of driving in snow,just stay off the roads until they're reasonably clear.

Not necessarily a troll, but young and perhaps naive.
The week after my daughter graduated from college, she and two friends drove from North Carolina to Boston to Nova Scotia to PEI to Montreal to Toronto to the Thousand Islands, to Albany where she caught a bus back to Boston and her friends went back South. All in seven calendar days
You can do the direct trip in three days, giving her/him time for more sightseeing.

Day 2: Washington DC to Boston via Gettysburg (drive thru battlefield) and NYC (Lincoln Tunnel to Manhattan), north to Bronx and I-95, across Connecticut and RI to Boston
Day 3: Harvard, Salem, New Hampshire
The only thing left out is Plymouth Rock, which only takes 5 minutes to see but requires an 85 mile roundtrip detour.

You have a lot of places on your list for only 4-6 days.
Have you looked at a map to see where all these places are? You can't get from Alabama to NH in 4-6 days AND go to Vermont, Rhode Island, Boston, etc.
Plus, you haven't told us WHERE in NH you need to be because that will affect your driving route.

It's definitely possible to do it in 4-6 days, one way.
When I make roadtrips, I often choose to "go through" a city, even though I didn't even stop. Nothing wrong with that! I just want to see what the place looks like, and I can come back in the future time.
