Need a place to Eat and have a couple of drinks after an Oakland A's game
We are heading down to Oakland this Thursday. we thought we would stay and have some dinner and drinks while the traffic died down. We don't need a fine dining spot but just a cool bar/restaurant that 6 guys can hang out.
thanks

That will be a challenge in the immediate vicinity of the Coliseum. Right down Hegenberger Rd. toward Oakland Airport is Francesca's, an old-time Italian restaurant that is very popular with the pre-game Warriors crowd.

Jack London Square or in Berkeley would be possibilities. But to get to either of them you'll have to negotiate the 880/80 traffic.
I would not hang around the coliseum neighborhood except for maybe the Sports Bar in the Hilton down at the west end of Hegenberger just before the airport. That would be the quickest/easiest.

Try Jupiter in Berkeley on Shattuck Ave. It's very casual, has a great selection of beer, thin crust pizzas and salads.
They have a huge outdoor patio area and if you're lucky you can sit by the fire pit.
Cool place to hang out. Have fun...

You're right, there are tons of places in Berkeley, and Jack London Square. If you want to go to a student bar/hangout (I'm way way way beyond student age, but I went with a group of college students after a basketball game at Berkeley a couple of years ago), try Blake's on Telegraph (although the Jupiter susie mentioned looks perfect!).

Well we are definitely not college student age anymore lol. we are in our 40's. What we are actually looking for is atmosphere. Kinda like a BJ's restaurant. Kinda noisy but has good food and drink. We just don't want to be stuck in traffic all the way back to Sacto. We looked up Jack London's square and didn't see anything. Saw the last watering hole but looks like it is just a bar. Anyway keep the ideas coming
again thanks

I've eaten at Bocanova. It's a really nice restaurant with very good food - a solid 3-1/2*. Nice bar, great design. I have no idea what the vibe will be like on a weekday after a game, though.
Here's a list of sports bars from which you can choose!
