I am considering a trip to St. Louis, and wondering if a car is a necessity to get around the city. Or can I get by on public transportation? Let me know if a car is needed.
Need a car in St. Louis?

Walter,
It might be possible to stay downtown and only go sight seeing to those places accessible by buses and the MetroLink light rail but in general public transportion is very limited in St. Louis. Rent a car.Enjoy the many sights and great food St. Louis has to offer!
If you stay at a place near the light rail line, and accept going nowhere but the sights in downtown and Forest Park (i.e, the highlights), you can see a lot of Saint Louis without a car. If you were planning on staying downtown, it may be better NOT to have a car, as parking there is either expensive or hard to find; and you'll end up walking to all the downtown sights anyway.
