Need 1 night accomodation:6 adults on a budget:4/30-5/1

Hello: We're a group of 6 women celebrating a milestone for one in our group and there won't be spouses or children along with us this time. (a quiet 'yippee!' should be noted here).

We want to be in Manhattan. We will probably need parking nearby. We will need two bathrooms if we're in one space. A little kitchenette would be fun. It doesn't really matter where we stay in Manhattan as long as it's a 3* or above. (whatever that star means...I know it's subjective).

One night, Saturday, 4/30/2011. The budget is tight. $150.00 is really as high as we can go if we're 2 people in a room. I don't know if I should book 2 rooms of 3 people in each room (finding rooms to accomodate 3 people has been difficult) or 3 rooms with 2 people in each room. I wanted to book an apart/hotel but the Affinia's and RCA seem to be booked for this date, and many of them only accomodate up to 5 people. I'll give the Beacon a call but I think we'll be priced out of that great place.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance, Bowsprit.

www.betterbidding.com best deals

on quality midtowns like Hyatt Millenium

bidding priceline.com from $110 works best for me.

An econo Hotel Park Savoy good central park location

if you do not want to bid.

www.chelsealodge.com some apartment options

at a decent price.

Beware apartment scammers they are tax cheats and illegal

and NEVER wire money..

Happy Hunting,

If you mean you have $450 total for the 6 of you, the travelzoo special for Gild Hall in the financial district would net you 3 king rooms @ $119/night plus tax each for the least expensive room. http://www.travelzoo.com/hotels/new-york/994783/ http://www.oyster.com/new-york-city/...out=2011-05-01
To find parking near the hotel, use bestparking.com

The only other thing I see worth considering (and I've looked a LOT) is Hotels.com has 2 double queen rooms at the Skyline Hotel for $215/night each plus tax. The Skyline has parking for $10/night which would save some money vs. a regular garage and while it's pretty far west and as close as Manhattan has to what I'd call a motel, it's pretty decent and recently updated. It would be more conveniently located than Gild Hall if you're coming for theater. While it looks like oyster has the same price, their $215 room says it's only one queen bed so I'd be careful.

I saw the Gild Hall special and have booked it for me and my husband at another time in April but I don't think that bathroom door allows enough privacy between friends while sharing a room. I've stayed at Gild Hall several times with my husband and we've had a queen and a king bedded room; I don't think they have dbl. queen rooms. I'm worried too about 3 women in one room with only one bathroom! Not my idea of fun.

I'll take a look at the Skyline Hotel; I don't know anything about it.

I'll look at all recommendations, but I don't want to use priceline for this trip. I'm afraid of making a mistake while reserving multiple rooms. I haven't done that before on priceline. I'll do a little research about Chelsea Lodge Suites.

I am aware that short term rentals of apartments are illegal or scams in NYC and don't want to get into that discussion today. An apart-hotel would have been great.

Your cheapest option: bathroom is down the hall.

Never stayed at this one but I have stayed at the HI Hostel in Chicago with my wife. She would go back again.

I checked the hostel international site. The beds are bunkbeds which won't work for this group. The price can't be beat though!
Thanks anyway.

Wouldn't hurt to call the Hostel and ask if they have "Handicapped" rooms-they might surprise you.
I hate sleeping on the top bunk too, especially if I have to get up during the night to go to the bathroom without turning on a light and waking others.
The front desk of every HI Hostel I have visited has at least tried to give me either a bottom bunk or a private room with a double bed.

I can get a room at La quinta for 3 people at $194 before taxes but it isn't a very pretty place, is it? I know I'll have to sacrifice something here! I'll pass the la quinta info along to the group and let them give me feedback. Thanks for the tip!

Your budget is VERY tight for Manhattan - esp since you have to park a vechicle. (It is just one vehicle isn;t it? And is it oversize? If so, the garages typically charge $10 extra - unless it's too big to fit under the very low roof.)

I would grab a reservation at Skyline while youlook at other options.

That's good advice. I'm waiting to hear from the group, then I'll proceed. Thanks, Bow.

La Quinta Inn on 32nd Street, reviews praise the location...under $150 if some in the group have Sam's club membership or AAA. Parking $30 however.

Pretty? Look at the pictures.
It's a moderate to low priced option with free breakfast, close to the subway and has a rooftop bar.
Is it "pretty" like the Muse? No.
It's a small hotel with average but very clean rooms at a great price. Kind of like a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express vs Indigo or Crowne Plaza. Definitely not an Intercontinental either.

My favorite moderate hotel options are Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express and LaQuinta Inns and Suites. The LaQuinta is a good choice in Manhattan at a pretty price. A few years back I spent 3 nights at the LQ on points and then 3 at the Hilton on 6th using Priceline - and enjoyed the LQ much more. When I was at the Hilton I missed the LQ's free breakfast, free printout of tickets at the business center and the short elevator ride.

My husband and I stayed at Radio City Apartments last summer. It is not fancy but it is clean, bathroom was super, small kitchenette and you can't beat the location or the price. EASY walking distance to everything and subways.

I was suggesting <red>THREE</red> rooms, each with 2 people in the room at <orange>Gild Hall</orange>. At $119/night you get 3 bathrooms rather than 2 and the women only have to share a KING bed rather than a double or a queen. If you're regular sized, you barely know there's someone else in the bed (unless snoring).

Thanks, mclaurie: I've eliminated Gild Hall because of the designer bathroom door. I've stayed there and it was fine for me and my husband but I know these ladies would not be at all comfortable with that design element.
