NC Fringe Festival Aug 9-24, 2013

It is time for my favorite off off Broadway Festival yet again. This year Fringe Central is closer to the theaters in the East Village, Alphabet City and the Lower East Side. TDF paper off off Broadway vouchers don't seem to exist any more (unless someone can enlighten me here - they are gone from the website) so one has to become a member (which I am) and the number of tickets at TDF prices is disappearing quickly.

I hope to volunteer a bit this year and earn some free tickets. I have already bought a ticket for Waiting for Waiting for Godot and I will buy a few at Fringe Central. There are always more shows that interest me than I have time to see. This year I will be busy with a private group for a week and out of town for a few days so I don't expect to see as many shows.

Who else is going and/or working the festival this year? More info here:

She thought she remembered saving the world... Self-exiled on a remote Icelandic island, geneticist Dr. Julia Lamb replays acts of ambition, betrayal and love inside her brilliant but crumbling mind and asks, "What is truth if you can't remember it?"

The playwright is a good friend of mine and received a Fulbright grant to go to Iceland to finish the play and it's gorgeous.

Me again -- More Fringe reviews and neighborhood restaurant suggestions and while not in the post, the Charlie Parker Jazz festival looks really interesting.
