N.C. coast

We're going to Charlotte in Mid July for a friends wedding but would like to go on to the coast. We would like to stay at a place that is out of the way, not touristy but near the beach any ideas??

Anywhere along the coast in Mid July will be touristy.

Your closest beaches will be Myrtle Beach but you can always head north to Cherry Grove or far south to Pawleys Island or Litchfield.

All summer long any beach in NC is busy. Not touristy, but nice beach on Oak Island, near Southport (30 mi. from wilmington). Private condos are available thru realtors or you can stay in one of the 2 fairly new motels in Southport(Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn) and drive the 3 miles to the beach.

Check out Wrightsville Beach, adjoining the charming, historic city of Wilmington. Lots to do but not as overwhelmingly touristy as other beaches.

Any of the Brunswick Islands will work, Oak Island being the northernmost followed by Holden Beach, Ocean Isle & Sunset Beach. However, all of those places that time of year will require a week long rental. Try a B & B in Wilmington for a lessor time frame & then hit Wrightsville as suggested prior.
