Nashville - Weekend Trip
My husband and I are thinking of a last minute weekend trip to Nashville a few days after Christmas. We are 40 and leaving the kids at home! Any recommendations for what to do this time of year? I will begin my research now. We definitely want a cool hotel...which area of town is best? OR do you recommend another TN city...something more quaint? THANKS!!!

In addition to touring the Ryman, they also have live concerts so you may want to check out their schedule.
Definitely downtown within walking distance of all the live music. Also check out the Bluebird Café. Although it's not downtown it's well worth the visit - if you can get reservations. You'll find up and coming artists performing there and sometimes an occasional big name will drop in to sing along.

If you like craft beer, check out Bosco's Brewery near Vandy University - they have great food and beer.

I agree with Janet! We have stayed at The Hermitage and had a fabulous meal. Cheekwood gardens was a big hit for us and we enjoyed having lunch in the restaurant there. We enjoyed the Ryman and the country music hall of fame. There is a small museum for Johnny Cash fans that is really pretty good.

We did the same thing last winter, right after New Year's and had a great time. We stayed downtown at the Omni and loved it. The location was great and the hotel was gorgeous. In the winter, the Opry is at the Ryman, and if you've never been to the Opry it is so much fun and usually a great show. Two of our favorite meals from that trip were brunch at Tavern and hot chicken from Hattie B's. Have a great trip!
