Nashville TN to Newark NJ
Dear All
Please has anyone driven the about Route? i am wondering what the terrain is like, i would much rather a flat road i am not keen on hills and valley and large gradients. I am trying to determine if i transport the car myself with my partner or get a haulage company to move the car. I know it is only about 884 miles but really worried about the hills
cheers

Well, it's not "flat" like when driving across the plains of the mid-west but we didn't find it particularly mountainous. I guess it depends on your definition of "hills and valley and large gradients".

I can't understand why you're worried about Chattanooga. You will miss the real mountains near Asheville by taking i40 east from Nashville to I81 north. It is an easy drive.

I just drove this route and can't imagine what you're worried about. It's normal highway travel -- the mountains are in the distance and just add interest. I deliberately left the highway to take in the views on Skyline Drive, but that's a choice you don't have to make.

Just stick to the interstates and on this route there won't be gradients (and yes, I know interstates do have some big hills - like I-91 in Connecticut or I-70 in Colorado or the swing through Chattanooga south to the Georgia border). But even on I-81 there's nothing drastic.
