In January, we are (were!) planning to take the Key West Express Ferry from Marco Island to Key West, stay a few days, rent a car and return it to Miami Airport for a flight back to our home in the midwest. Saw a number of reviews of the boat , "Key West Express") which were somewhat negative (drunks on board, sea sickness because it's a small boat)...is there any other ferry that goes from Miami to Key west thru the Thousand Islands...or does anyone have a good experience renting a houseboat in the Everglades ?
Naples/Miami/ to Key West ,FL: best way to go...also, houseboating ?

The only way to get from somewhere in Fla to Key West is to fly, drive, take a bus or the Key West Espress. It's actually a very big boat but I, too, have seen several people mention sea-sickness. It must be easily affected by wind and swell. And one other knock on it is that they will cancel if the weather is bad.

Hmm, is this your first trip to Florida? Are you flying in and out of Miami?
