Naples restaurant on 5th?
We live in Bonita and rarely go into town these days. But we have guests coming and I think they'd enjoy the street scene with music on those 2nd Thursdays (we would also). Question: What's a good moderate price restaurant on the street that will take reservations? We've eaten at Lurcat and enjoyed it, but my memory is that they're pricey. We've eaten at Yabba's, but my memory is that they don't take reservations. We like Chops ok, but we sometimes go to their Bonita restaurant, and I'd like to try somewhere different if possible. I know there are a zillion reestaurants down there-- but which ones have very good food at non-exorbitant rates? (We'll be paying for all 4 meals.) thanks!

First of all Yabba does take reservations, or at least they always have.
But how about Pazzo, which owned by the same group as Chops, Yabba, and the new Bluewater Grill at Coconut Point (have you been there yet?). It's priced between their others, and I think better priced than most of the rest of the "row" of restaurants.
Check out the website to look at prices or compare with their other restaurants.

If you go, request Doug when you make the reservation, and watch him roll his eyes when you mention Patrick from Fodors.
But now I realize that yesterday was the second Thursday, so perhaps this is now too late. I was flying home from NYC on Wednesday and missed this post.

People often start posts talking about places without mentioning the name and usually we were supposed to assume they meant New York. It's nice to see someone actually thought New York when it was Naples, Florida.

We were there for the 2nd Thursday in December. There was a pretty good crowd, but not much to do and nowhere to sit. Just a magician and about a dozen musical acts that weren't very interesting: 1 man bands, crooners, others singing along to taped music.

Kate, I agree Truluck's is a very nice restaurant (with prices to match, of course). But if they have their windows and doors open tonight, it "ain't beautiful". Brrrrr. We're off to join friends at Cafe Lurcat tonight -- but I'm sure they'll have their doors closed too!
Everyone I know agrees that Vergina is about the "worst of the lot" for the 5th Avenue places. I've had two meals there, both mediocre at best.

Thanks everyone! Suggestions propended.
I agree, by the way, that Vergina is poor.
I wonder which has better food-- Yabba or Pazzo. I know the cuisine is different. Which place is likelier to be quieter? Bluewater we thought was pretty good-- fun atmosphere, very "happening" place, but horribly crowded and horribly noisy. Not a place to go to when one wants to be able to have real conversation.
Sorry to hear that the Thursday street scene wasn't all that interesting. We may try the one in March, since we'll have houseguests and it'd give us something different to do.
Thanks again for replies.

Oh, I don't think there's much doubt that the quality of food is better at Pazzo than at Yabba, and the prices of the two reflect that as well. Yes, Pazzo is sort of "modern Italian" -- whatever that means and Yabba is Caribbean. I happen to love the half a jerk chicken with smashed potatoes and steamed veggies at Yabba -- and for well under $20 it is outstanding value.
We nearly always eat on the "patio" at Yabba and it is less of an echo chamber than the barnlike (but pretty) interior.
I tend to think of Yabba as noisier than Pazzo, but that could depend where you sit also and how "lively" a group table near you happens to be. Yabba is clearly a more "casual" dining experience than Pazzo.
By the way, I had left my post last night hanging as I didn't click "post" when the doorbell rang with our ride to Lurcat. So that 9:30 post time was AFTER dinner. But we had a fantastic meal. I had rack of lamb there for the first time last night and it was as good as any I've had anywhere. I had the wonderful apple, cheese, and chive salad as a starter, and we had sides for the table of their fantastic au gratin potatoes and brussels sprouts. The food was truly great -- I'm just glad I wasn't paying the bill. (rack of lamb was $36), I suspect our total bill for 4 was around $350 with tip. Total of 6 drinks at our table, no wine by the bottle.
