Naples, Florida to New Jersey

Can anyone recommend clean, good value hotels/motels to break up the 22 hour ride from Naples, Florida to New Jersey? We prefer to stay as close to I 95 as possible. THANKS!
S G

There are many motels just off the interstate all through SC and NC.

My parents have stayed in Clarks Inn and Restaurant in Santee SC. They used to drive NJ to Naples, but moved to Virginia. This was one of the stops they made.
It is close to 95 and is about 600 miles from Naples.

We used to break our trips, from Sarasota, in Florence, SC, where there's a Holiday Inn Express, a Hampton Inn, etc. Also a god-awful Outback, but, you're on 95, so what are the choices?

Yeah, 95 can be awful. If you pick a chain get one a little off the highway. Clark's is a great recommendation.

In Manning, SC, McCabes barbeque is really good and worth the stop. Summerton Diner is too.

You can find a list of every hotel/motel/restaurant at every exit along I-95 here: www.i95exitguide.com

Go to google maps to plan your route and figure the area(s) that you might wish to stop for the night then go to the website to see what's available in those areas.

FYI - Pick your general "stopover distance" that you are comfortable driving - you'll find just about every major hotel/motel chain will have units somewhere along I-95 within 20 miles of that spot.

One tip -- there are a great many elderly drivers on 95, and they all pull over at dusk. If you intend to drive into the night make a hotel reservation, or there may be no vacancy when you arrive.

hey, mrsgo, I drive from Florida to NJ also (but usually fly). How many stops. I prefer to do the drive in just two days and the mid way point for me is around Rocky Mount, NC. Lots of nice chain motels and restaurants.

But if I have a little more time, I love to stop at Savannah (or possibly Charleston, but that's a little more off the beaten track) and then again around Richmond, or possibly Baltimore. In fact, I kind of prefer staying IN a city than at a highway motel. I love stretching my legs by walking in town, and the choice of good restaurants makes the evening so much nicer than holing up in a motel watching TV and eating at Red Lobster!
