NaPali boat tour
Does anyone know of a boat tour of the NaPali coast that is less than 5 hours? Is that even possible or does it take that much time? Just looking for the views - could do without the snorkeling, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Napali Catamaran leaves from Hanalei and is a great experience! They use a smaller catamaran that hosts about 12 plus crew. Definitely take the morning tour (seas get really rough later in the day). We did stop to snorkel but it was less than an hour and snacks were served (sandwiches stuff, fresh pineapple, soft drinks, etc.) so you can just sit back and devour the scenery while others snorkel if you prefer.

Actually, now that I've thought about it some more I have one follow up question. Is the snorkeling out off of one of those boat tours much better than the snorkeling you can do off the beaches (of Kauai or Maui)? I'm guessing yes but I figured its best not to assume.
Thanks again

The Zodiac boat rides are a blast...I have done it a couple of times. I forget which outfitter, but Andy's sounds familiar. The first time I saw what I was getting into, I must admit I had second thoughts, but it was truly a great experience. I did the trip once during whale season and they dropped a microphone into the water and we heard the whale sounds coming through the speakers.....wow, a thrilling experience.

We did snorkeling off of a beach in Kauai. Sorry I don't remember the name, It was more like a cove with caves around the bend. At any rate the snorkeling was not very good. We were dissapointed and water was cloudy. We are use to the Caribbean.

diane - i think it just depends on which beach or area you go to. i have been to a number of places in hawaii (some great snorkeling some ok), but the same was true in the caribbean (one of the best snorkeling places was south of Cancun and practically nothing in many of the beaches in St. Martin)...

This is true but my husband also went to the famous place while we were in Maui. Molokina (something like that) and he was very dissapointed there as well. He went scuba diving. It was a place where everyone goes. There are a million boats leaveing to go to this place. The dive master was horrible as well many complained on the boat what a rip off it was.
We did have one great snorkeling experience in Kona close to the town. There were turtles all over as well. It was a great place and many fish. If you want to snorkel in the Caribbean go to Belize, Cayman islands, right off the beach in Turks and Caicos. St. Martin is not known for snorkeling at all. Cozumel was very good at one time, but since the hurricanes who knows now. It may have changed.
