Nantucket summer rentals

This topic has already begun to come up, and I have responded to one query about the week of August 4 with the suggestion that the poster book early,

This message comes from a real estate company I respect, and I pass it on without naming the company:

"The rental season on Nantucket has started strong with bookings up nearly 30% compared to last year at this time. Vacation rental inquiries started early this season with many people re-booking homes shortly after their 2011 stay. Not surprisingly, the weeks of August 4th and 11th are the most sought after with few available options remaining. It pays to be flexible in your travel dates; there are many quality rental homes available in July, late August and during one of the loveliest months on the island, September."

I am not in the real estate business, do not own any rental property, nor does the real estate company in question know that I am posting this quotation from their newsletter. I will not be compensated financially or in any other way for this post.

I get lots of questions on this forum because I live in Nantucket, and I am providing this as information to potential visitors. I am happy to answer other questions.
