Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard

What recommendations does anyone have for visiting these two places... lodging, amount of time to allow for visit, places to see, etc. we will be visiting the East coast for the first time and have a week. Thanks!

A couple days on each island is about right in my experience.

Two on Nantucket and two on MV. I would explore the cape then. Provincetown is my favorite. You will have to rent hotels or B&Bs as rentals are for a week or more most of the time. Getting to and from is a problem if there are rough waters. We could not get to MV one time due to rough seas. You could just go to MV as a day trip and Nantucket basing out of the Cape. The fast ferry books fast but there is always the slower one.
