If distance were no impediment, where would you like to spend a 3-day weekend in the United States? I like Pasadena, LA, San Diego, the California coast, San Francisco, San Francisco environs, Portland, Seattle, Scottsdale, Palm Springs, Chicago, NY, DC, Charleston, Boston. Always looking for new places to go for short trips - like Pasadena, where there's an abundance of things to see and do, as well as a nice town, with good shopping and good restaurants.

Personal choice would be the Mendocino, CA area, Seattle or Traverse City, MI area.
Good question!
Vancouver, B.C. - I know it isn't in the US but it is still close enough for a weekend trip. I fell in love with this city last summer. Nice mix of outdoors and city.
NYC - I've been twice but have barely scratched the surface.
Any national park - Sorry I couldn't narrow it down to one. Always happy spending a weekend in the outdoors with some hiking and a sandwich & beer out of the cooler.
I never thought of Pasadena. I'm also interested in learning more about Traverse City.
Absolutely NYC to see shows!
NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, Provincetown, Savannah , Berkshires
NYC, Washington DC, Boston, Niagara Falls,(sorry, that's Canada) Hocking Hills, Oh, Lake Erie Islands, Mackinac Island, Finger Lakes, Gettysburg & Harpers Ferry
Vegas, Aspen, Park City, Sante Fe, Sedona, Grand Canyon, Victoria, BC
Chincoteague, NYC, Cape Cod
I don't see Albuquerque/Santa Fe on your list, SF!!
fourfortravel, I have never heard of Chincoteague so I Googled and it sounds like a place we would like to go for a few days this summer. We live about 9hrs away. Could you tell ;me what the activities are? We like to walk the seashore, birdwatch and just explore new areas.
<<<I don't see Albuquerque/Santa Fe on your list, SF!!>>>
and they should be!
NYC for theater!
Central CA coast!
NYC, Chicago, San Francisco
For longer weekends - Manchester, UK, to see ManUtd (Wed-Mon)
For shorter weekend - Chicago, we own a condo there (Thur-Mon)
For just a 2 night weekends, Tampa or St. Augustine.
Vegas Baby!
NYC
cd, we enjoyed Chincoteague for bird migrations, the beach, and biking and hiking--mostly outdoor activities. And fresh seafood, of course. There is a famous wild pony swim every summer that draws many visitors, but we have never visited.
Thanks fourfortravel. Where do you stay? We would like ocean view but as economical as possible.
Santa Fe, San Antonio, DC.
I've got to put in a plug for my favorite city, Philadelphia.
Big Sur
Honolulu
Palm Springs
Where you go for a weekend depends largely on where your starting point is but I will pretend that isn't an issue - NYC, Philadelphia, DC, Boston, Chicago, San Fransisco, San Diego, Coronado, Key West, Venice Beach, OK anywhere warm and sunny at this point....
cd, we have stayed along Chincoteague Chanel or closer to the Main Street, as beachfront dog-friendly rentals are rare and/or expensive.
