Name of Newport Restaurant
Hi!
Last fall in a Rhode Island tourist magazine, chefs picked their favorite restaurants to go to. I can't remember the name of a restaurant in an inn, that many mentioned. It was a special occasion/fine dining place with some inventive food. I got the impression it was rather small. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Thanks in advance for any help!

I visit Newport quite often - I have a niece that lives there and we spend Christmas every other year there - love it! There is a restaurant called The White-Horse Tavern. I am not sure if this is the restaurant you are referring to, but it is very quaint, and somewhat formal. I believe it's claim to fame is that it is America's longest running tavern. The bar is extremely small, like 8 bar stools, but very cute. You can view it's menus, as well as a few others at this web address...http://www.abigailstonemaninn.com/restaurants.htm
good luck!

There are 2 spots that meet your criteria. One is the restaurant at Castle Hill Inn and the other is the Spiced Pear at the Chandler.

Thank you all so much! You guys are great!
And yes, I'm pretty sure it was the Spiced Pear.
(And that's the last time I let my sister-in-law borrow one of my "travel" reference magazines)
Can't wait to try it on our next visit.
Thanks so much again.
