The boat trips up the Na Pali coast are great, breathtaking scenery and they are fun. However, currently they are having problems with launching from the river in Hanalei on Kauai. Capt. Zodiac the most popular of the zodiac raft expeditions are still running 2 boats a day only out of Tunnels beach on Kauai. I am not sure how long they will be able to keep that up. The rest of the catamarans are running over on the west side of the island out of Port Allen, farther to drive. This is due to the local Hawaiians not wanting to commericalize the river they launch out of & the park. It is a BIG problem now.

Aloha!
My Husband & I did the Na Pali trek on Captain Zodiac prior to Hurricane Iniki. It was absolutely thrilling, beautiful, and highly recommended. We rafted through a "school" of large hawaiian sea turtles, explored hidden caves, and experienced the vast cliff formations. It was awesome! We took the one way zodiac trip in and hiked 10 hour hike on the infamous Na Pali trail out. So we got two perspectives: one from sea, one from trail. This adventure is one of most favorite travel memories.
Any more questions, write back.

Debbie C...how was the hike out? We have an 11 year old daughter who is reasonably athletic. Could she do the hike in 10 hours or would we be better off to do the roundtrip Zodiac? It looks like there are long trips and short trips. Any recommendations on that as well. Thanks

Capatain Zodiac is a MUST! I never did the one-way and hiked out, but I have done the 5 hour round-trip and it was great. They take you to a beach where no one else is allowed to go, and they feed you lunch and provide you with snorkeling gear. I've done it twice, and it was wonderful both times. If the weather cooperates they take the rafts into sea caves along the way. I have hiked from Kee Beach (the farthest point you can travel by car) 2 miles alond NaPali Coast and it was incredible, so I'm sure the 10-hour one-way trip back would be the best of both worlds if you're physically up to it. Just bring PLENTY of water!
