Trip Report MY's LV, SW Utah, N. Rim Grand Canyon Trip Report

Jump to last reply

It has been several weeks since we returned from a wonderful family trip. Since there are not many reports on these areas of our country, I thought I'd give a quick trip report.

Who: DH(56), me(52), DD(15) & Russian exchange student - XD(18).

When: May 28-June 6

We flew USAir from Sacramento to LV on Wed, May 28. Wow, has Las Vegas changed in 12 years. We rented a car thru Alamo and checked into a timeshare for 2 nights. It was located on LV Blvd, but south of the main casino area. Nice place and fine for the 2 nights.

We headed to the strip. Amazing! Last time we were here, the Bellagio was under construction. The girls were in awe. We used the self park at the Bellagio and wandered thru their conservatory, lobby with the Chihully glass and on to the Theatre to pick up tickets for Cirque du Soleil's "O" for the next night. We then headed to the recommended Olives for dinner. No wait and we got to sit outside. Due to the wind, the fountains were not performing. Maybe later. Our meal was good: DH had the calamari & garbanzo, I had a pizza, DD pasta and DX the portobello pizza.

The rest of the evening was spent wandering the Forum shops and finally getting to see the Bellagio Fountains show. DH wanted to see the Fremont Street Experience. It was good, but I wasn't impressed with the area. It reminded me of downtown Reno. Older casinos and a bit grimy. I wouldn't do this again.

Thu, 5/29 - Today we got up late and just hung around the pool. We took naps before heading out for dinner & "O".

We were running a little late, so we had dinner at a coffee shop in the Bellagio, just off the Conservatory. Great food and quick service. We saw the 7:30 show of "O" and enjoyed it very much. Amazing!

Finished the night walking to the Venetian, thru their shops and seeing the Pirate show at Treasure Island.

to be continued later ...
