Moving to St. Louis for School?

Moving to St. Louis for School?
My friend is considering going to St. Louis University for medical school but is a little concerned about adjusting to life in Seattle. We both grew up in the SF Bay Area and went to college in Los Angeles and haven't much experience with the Midwest. She is an Asian girl and is worried about fitting in culturally as its no where near as diverse as California. Also, the high crime rates are a little bit of a concern. Is it a lively enough place for someone in their early/mid 20s? Does anyone have any advice that I could pass on? Thanks for your help!

She'll be fine. She's moving to St. Louis, not the moon. It's a city with a number of colleges, lots of young people, and plenty of diversity. She'll appreciate the friendliness and agenda-less interactions with people, something she likely didn't experience in the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

I have to assume your typing in Seattle instead of St. Louis is just an error.
I have a friend who is a surgeon at SLU, most of his Fellows seem to be of Indian descent. There is certainly diversity within both the SLU and WashU medical communities. And, really, St. Louis does not have a high crime rate. Tell her to buy a warm coat and some shoes that aren't flip-flops, we do have real weather here.

I want to assure you she won't be moving to the middle of farm land or wheat fields as some uninformed people think....
As mentioned above, there are several highly regarded Universities is Saint Louis. They have diverse populations.
She will be find plenty of pals from all over the globe!
As in any city - one must be careful adn alert of their surroundings. She will be fine.

The neighborhoods near SLU and the med school used to be questionable, like in the 1960s/70s and before, but aren't dicey now. (The St Louis University grounds themselves have really been improved.) If she grew up in the Bay Area, she is probably street-smart, non? She will be as safe as any other city in the world. (However, I am not aware of most current crime stats or trends.)
St. Louis certainly has an outstanding reputation for its various medical schools and medical community. Washington University being one of the best. SLU, too.
Having lived in St. Louis, I did find it to be a bit more strait-laced than cities further west. More like the sedate East Coast than the 'wild & crazy' West Coast, if that makes sense. It has some gorgeous tree-d neighborhoods, not far from the Med Schools I mentioned.
