Thanks Tom. I have been to that site. Can you give any insight on which areas of the city we should look at, stay away from, etc..
I would stay away from the south side - both east and west. Lower rent areas, more crime, closer to the industrial areas and railroads, etc.
Even though the airport is out on the west side, it really doesn't take long to get there from anywhere in town. C.R. has a number of main thoroughfares, including I-380 that cut through town and move pretty quickly, so it shouldn't take more than 15-20 min. to get to the airport from about anywhere.
Depending on where you'll be working (?) in C.R., you could also check out Fairfax, a tiny bedroom community just to the southwest of C.R., though it's so tiny I don't know that you'd find much to rent there.
You could even go due south to the North Liberty/Coralville area. North Liberty is a bedroom community to Iowa City (which is a great town for young single guys), and Coralville is sandwiched between N.L. and Iowa City. Rent will be higher in Coralville, a bit less in N.L.
North Liberty has grown immensely in the last 15 yrs or so and is full of condos and duplexes. The newer ones are up on the north side, closer to C.R. and right off I-380 - that area would be about a 15 min-drive to the airport.
