Movie Stars Home Maps?

Hi everyone!

I am planning a 3 day trip with friends to the LA area. I've been on the tours in the past and I was disappointed. I don't care about where Shirley Temple lived or Jack Benny. I don't even know who those people are.... This time I just really want to hang out with our friends and get a map and look for starts homes on our own at our leisure.

Does anyone know where you can get a map with the correct addresses and not those old stars like "Will Rogers and Lucille Ball". We're more interested in seeing young stars homes.

Thanks in advance,
Jenny

Times have changed. "Stars" value their privacy much more than before (especially since the Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969), and they do not advertise where they live. You're basically out of luck if you think you'll see Adam Brody in his underwear dropping his recyclable trash bin at the curb. You see Ryan Philippe and Reese Witherspoon with their kids everywhere (they live a normal life in the Hollywood Hills)-- but they're usually private citizens, and LA citizens respect that

Most real estate deals are quietly transacted, and it's only the celebrity-obsessed Madonnas of the world that openly flaunt their homes. Homes are also quickly flipped. Example: Madonna bought Hedy Lamarr's house in Beverly Hills one year and planted lavender in the front yard. She sold to Diane Keaton the next year, and she ripped out the lavender. It was flipped within six months. (I know this because I had connections in the real estate industry, and because I was in BH on business and saw Diane running into her house.)

Long story short (I know-- "too late!"), you won't find a Star Map of new stars' homes. If your visit will be ruined without some kind of Star Sighting, I recommend bringing money and an extremely stylish outfit or two and hitting a Scene restaurant or club.

Considering Will Rogers and Lucile Ball are dead, I doubt they are in their homes so you are in luck.

If you do get a map showing "old" stars' homes, you just might see some new ones - I'm always reading about a new star buying an old star's home.

Leona, you're right-- although a lot of the new stars are not living in those houses, they're buying them as a short-term investment; they effect a small list of high-return improvements and then "flip" the houses.

A lot of the classic stars' homes on Roxbury are being scraped, tragically-- I think Rosemary Clooney's home is now a pile of rubble, ready to be replaced by one of those faux-Tuscan wedding-cake houses the nouveaux riches buyers seem to be building in Beverly Hills these days.

For Stars homes thing, it's just fun to drive around Beverly Hills and the Hollywood hills to enjoy the views and stare with wonder and amazement on the remarkable whimsy of the extremely wealthy .
If you want to actually see celebrities, go to any whole/raw/organic food restaurant in West Hollywood.
Have fun! BTW Shirley Temple was a former ambassador and Jack Benny played the violin!
Oh, and who the heck is Adam Brody? Is he as hot as his cousin Adrien???

Thanks everyone!
Your advice is great! I don't really care about seeing the actually stars. If I did see one I would probably turn my head because I would be embarrassed. LOL

I love homes and real estate and really we all just want to gawk at the houses!

I did go on a tour once and they showed us Britney's house, Janet Jackson, Will Smith, etc. But it was so quick and somehow I was always on the wrong side of the bus so I didn't get any pics. So to me the tour wasn't worth it. That is why I figured this an easier way.

Well, thanks again. I think I will just sit back and enjoy the houses no matter who owns them

If you want to see movie stars, just have lunch at the Ivy.

Is the Ivy expensive? Do they seat "outsiders" at tables by the kitchen? LOL Do they laugh at you if you are not driving up in a Bentley? I have a thing about going to a place to eat that lunch is $200 and the are laughing at me because I am not wearing $1,000 shoes! LOL

It's not like I am white trash, but I might not feel comfortable there. Like I said I know if I happen to see a celebrity, I would turn my head because of being embarrassed.

Thanks for the ideas
Jenny

You will have to report back what you find!

My funniest experience is when doing a self guided exploration, we drove by a famous pop singer's home. My travel companion resembled said singer at first glance. Two carloads of teenagers jumped out and started taking his picture. The looks on their faces were priceless when they realized they got photos of other tourists!
