MOUNT RUSHMORE/CUSTER PARK, SOUTH DAKOTA
Hello
We are planning a trip to see Mount Rushmore and hike in Custer Park and wondering if the Slyvan Lake Lodge is fairly good quality and cabins and food? I was reading a lot of bad reviews on Trip Advisor on this lodge. Or do you know of any other lodge near by or in park that is of very good quality, re service, food and rooms?
Thanks.

We stayed in the itty bitty sleeping cabins at Legion Lake Lodge in 2009. I'm pretty picky and we were fine. It was TINY! But we were really only in there to sleep. We ate in the dining facility closest to the cabin. I really don't remember much about it - so Im guessing it wasn't horrible or amazing.
My kids thought it was really fun and we had a little personal fire pit just outside the cabin.

Thanks for your replies. I found Elk Ridge B & B, that has amazing reviews and great location. The rooms are lovely also, so might consider this instead of the Sylvan Lake Lodge.
Not finding anyone that has stayed at this lodge, and the reviews are really mixed. Joan

We were at Custer and Rushmore last year. I think th Sylvan Lake Lodge is a little too far from most things. It seemed nice, but I wouldn't want to have to drive back to it every vending. I'll try to think of he place we stayed. We liked it.
One thing we did, that we had not planned on doing, was hat we drove to he Devil's Monument NP. It was about a 2-hr drive, and it was awesome!

We stayed in the State Game Lodge in the park. It was great and the restaurant had good food. You can read about it on Day 3 of our trip report:

Hello, thanks for all your help. I read about Devils Monument, it does look awesome and sound worth going. It might be better to stay at the Elkridge B & B, and close to Mount Rushmore, they had great reviews. Will look up the State Game Lodge also. Joan

Joanada, on your other post, I stated that unless they've changed, not all the rooms at the State Game Lodge are air-conditioned, ours was not and we had to change to the motel, it was just too hot.
