mosquitos in chicago?
hi fodorites,
can you please tell me what the mosquito situation is like in chicago in july? i have really bad reactions to bug bites and want to make sure i'm prepared (i.e. long sleeves/pants, close toed shoes, etc.) specifically, i'd like to know what the bug situation will be like at wrigley field (7 pm game) and at millenium park/navy pier (fireworks).
THANK YOU!

I haven't been in July, but did go in June a few years ago. I didn't notice any at all (and I would have - they love me). Then again, I'm from Tennessee, so pretty much anywhere north has fewer mosquitoes than we do. I'd just take plenty of bug spray, but if it's going to worry you a lot, take a pair of long pants (loose ones - it'll be hot) and sneakers or something. (If you're flying and don't want to take bug spray with you, there are plenty of Walgreen's around Chicago to buy some.)

Everyone keeps saying the mosquitoes are going to be bad because Northern Illinois had a wet spring. So far I have only seen them at forest perserves. They are usually not bad in the city. I think you will be fine with bug spray. If you want to see real baseball go see the White Sox!
