Hey Fodorites! I'm headed to Mohegan Sun in a few weeks for an anniversary celebration. We're willing to splurge a little bit, but don't want to break the bank big-time. Any ideas on where to find good deals for lodging (we'd like to stay at the casino - no driving) or suggestions for fairly inexpensive/still fun dinners? I've never been to the CT casinos, so any advice would be great ![]()
We do plan to make a brief stop at Foxwoods to check out the museum and maybe play a few cards of bingo...

Just to top this message with a mini report: We ended up staying at the Best Western Cristata just outside the entrance of the casino. It's much less expensive than staying at Mohegan, and the BW has a free limo that'll take you back and forth. I'd absolutely recommend it again.
For future reference, if you get a players club card (they're free just like the vegas casinos) they will send you promos for rooms at lower rates several times a year. They also mail out a card, ours came in June the last couple of years, that gives you $ 5.00 off breakfast until 10 AM for the next year and their breakfast buffet is pretty good. The Native American museum at Foxwoods is very good, well worth the trip there.
The best lodging bargain is Microtel. Rooms are just fine and the shuttle is reliable and convenient.
The Best Western and Sheraton (Norwich) have both been recently renovated and are very nice. Both come up regularly on Priceline at much lower rates than booking directly, though.
