Not sure if anyone out there can help me with this, but my friend and I are trying to plan a camping/float trip for late September. We have heard great things about the Black River. Does anyone have any opinions on this river or can anyone offer any recos on good campsites? Please let me know if you can help! We live in St. Louis and would like to keep travel time to 2 or less hours. Thanks

we usually went float tripping in the earlier summer, since later summer river/stream water is usually lower (read: pick up canoe in several places when water's low) IMHO best rivers: cuiver, currant (current?), black
there's a place called Ackers Ferry we used to always go to, they were great. don't remember which river, though. Went on the Black river a few years ago, but wasn't as much fun for me. maybe call several places and find out if the water is down or whatnot
sounds like fun, enjoy yourselves!
