Mississippi gulf coast

Hi, looking for advice about accommodation for a few days on the Mississippi gulf coast. Have no interest in casinos or high rise resorts. Like the look of the gulf islands national seashore but we won't be camping. Any advice on wher to stay where we can spend some time on the seashore and to avoid overdeveloped places. Happy with motels or hotels so long as we can spend some time appreciating the coast each day. Many thanks, julia

I honestly don't believe there are any places that are not overdeveloped, but I hope I am wrong.

I honestly don't believe there are any nice seashores in Mississippi. If there are I have never heard of them. You could go on to Gulf Shores in Alabama which isn't too far from the Mississippi coast. I'm more familiar with the beaches along 30A in Florida which are wonderful!

I recently spent a week in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Very enjoyable, not too many highrises/condo towers. Eastern end very residential but close to stores etc. See my recent trip report. The house we rented is unavailable next year (we immediately tried to rent it again for next year) so I thought I'd scout out the Mississippi Gulf coast. I gave up: not into casino, tacky beach rentals, condo towers.

We went last summer to Gulf Shores and while I agree that it was enjoyable there are many high rise condos across the beachfront area. I would look to driving to Florida coastline. Mississippi offers nothing in my opinion for what you want.

Where are you coming from? and what else are you looking for?
