Mill Valley California Walks and Hikes

Anyone from Mill Valley area out there?? We're staying in Mill Valley for 5 nights the first week of October and would love some local advice on walking/hiking. There are some areas I can see on the map that look interesting (not Mt Tam or Muir Woods but some areas that aren't familiar to me).

We're relatively close (live on the Peninsula) and usually stay in Point Reyes for hiking so know that area well. Looking for things more local to Mill Valley/Mount Tam. Hubby has a sort of bad knee now so the days of our 10-13 mile hikes are over for a while. Looking for recommendations for up to 6-7 miles.

Not sure if I will get any responses as this is such a local question, but would love to hear from you if you have any advice!

Get yourself a handheld GPS and go geocaching. This would be a good one to start with. http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/G...molino-park-ii
There are plenty of them in the area to find. I've been caching for nearly ten years now.

This may be too long, but it's a really nice hike. Not sure how much you save by turning around at Muir Beach.

sf7307 - wow, this is just the sort of thing I was looking for! We have stayed at the Pelican Inn (really fun) so I know it, but we have not done this hike. We hiked from the inn through Green Gulch and up around; can't remember the exact route.

Funny that I googled various things like Marin County hikes but this one never came up.

Perfect! Thanks.

Glad to be of help - we're always looking for great hikes that length in the Bay Area. This particular hike we did as a "reunion" hike with the group we trekked with in Peru last year. Have fun!

dbdurand, wow still another thing I didn't come up with when I googled Mill Valley hiking. You got a better result than I did, from SoCal!! Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
