Mid-Atlantic Photography Road Trip - where to go?

My friend and I (both 50-something female advanced photographers) are planning a Mid-Atlantic Photography Road Trip in the middle of May. We will travel from Connecticut to New Jersey, PA and Maryland. We have about 7 days planned. We are thinking we would stop at Eastern State Penitentiary, Longwood Gardens, Grafitti Underground, St Michaels, Cape May...

Looking for more ideas. Any suggestions for where to go for photo opportunities?
Especially interested in the Chesapeake Bay Area.

Oxford, Md

Anapolis, Md

Chestertown, Md

but you do not say exactly what your preferred subjects are: wildlife, salt marshes, architecture, abandoned institutions, ????

We are most interested in photographing landscape, flowers, salt marshes, abandoned institutions? Are there ponies in Assateqgue this time of year? How hard they to photograph?

My bad eyes thought this said Pornography Road - I had to open!!

I agree with Anapolis MD.

What about the sights in Richmond VA or Monticello for a history angle?

From Cape May, take the ferry down to Assateague and Chincoteague and photograph the ponies and wonderful birds there. The ponies have always been there when we've gone, but sometimes they are not close to the road, sometimes they are on the road.

If you continue south you can take the bay bridge tunnel and stop at the midway point for some very interesting shots.

if you are going to Longwood Gardens, you should also go to Winterthur in the same area. The grounds are gorgeous. (And touring the house/museum is pretty cool too). And if time allows, visit the Brandywine Museum as well to see all the Wyeth's. As a landscape photographer, I should think you would enjoy them.
