My wife and I are leaving from Denver (microbrew capital of the US) to go to KC for the NCAA regional college basketball games. We will be spending time in KC as well as the Kansas suburbs and Lawrence. Could anyone tell us if there are any microbrewery restaurants there? Where might we find good food?
Thanks!

DENVER is the microbrew capital of the U.S.??? HA!!! Ever been to Portland, Oregon?
Restaurants worth a trip in KC:
Lidia's-downtown
JJ's on the Plaza
Ruth's Chris-Plaza
Starker's Private Reserve-Plaza
Grand Street-Plaza
Yahooz-south suburbs
Bristol-south suburbs
(not mentioning chains except RC).
Lawrence has the Freestate Brewpub, popular with locals. No great restaurants, a few decent ones.
um, this question was originally asked in March of 1997.
Let's all assume that this guy managed to get some good food in KC, ok?
I know this is an old post but figured I'd list the breweries/brewpubs I've found for my own trip to KC in case others are interested.

I don't drink beer, but I can recommend the food at two of the microbreweries: the Freestate Brewpub in Lawrence, and the 75th Street Brewing Company in Kansas City, MO.
