Actually, that is part of my concern...when I asked for a possible upgrade,I was told that could only happen at check-in. I asked what the additional cost would be & they could/would not tell me that either. This has caused me to consider other options, although the $89 rate with a small upgrade fee would be fine, if I knew how much that would be.

That is a big red flag in my book if they will not tell you what the price of a room is that is in a higher category. $89 a night for off season in Miami is a lot. I'd go back to the drawing board and find another hotel. I feel confident you can find one oceanfront for that price in September.

FYI - Hotels.com has this hotel for $81/night. Starwood hotels has a low price guarantee meaning if you book through starwoodhotels.com and then send them the info (web page shot) of the lower rate you get the lower rate AND another 10% off. Cheers.
