Miami Airport meeting place?

Sorry if this posting has turned up somewhere else but can't find it under Florida so here goes again!!
Any suggestions for a good meeting place in Miami airport. We are flying in American Airlines from New Orleans and need to meet up with the rest of our family coming in British Airways from London.
Are these in the same terminal? Is there a good meeting place? Should we try the car hire company (haven't booked one yet) as a good place to meet? If so do they only have ONE depot per company?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Check the official Miami International Airport website www.miami-airport.com

There is a terminal map and answers to all your questions. As to car rental, the majors have a desk near every baggage claim area in every concourse so NO I wouldn't recommend that, unless you decide that each group will get on the car rental shuttle separately and meet where the cars actually are.

AA and BA are not likely to use the same concourse. The one obvious place that I can think of to meet is the hotel. There is one hotel wholly within the airport terminal. It's the only one, it doesn't have a name that I know of, just a big purple neon sign screaming "HOTEL" - you might consider meeting right in front of that but it is on the departures level - not sure there is an entrance on baggage claim level, which does mean hauling luggage around.

Once you've checked the terminal map layout, you might consider sending just 1 person from your group to the baggage claim area of the other group to hang around there, while the rest wait. Fewest people need to haul luggage that way.

I also agree with meeting your friends at the hotel. Miami Airport is a big giant pain in the ass airport. Since your friends are flying international, they will have to go through customs and all that other crap which could hold them up considerably.

Many thanks - both those suggestions of wedsite and hotel were great - we'll look further into them. Thanks again for your help.

As a frequent MIA flyer, I will agree that the best place to meet people is near the Hotel (can't remember the name either) there is a good sushi restaurant near the HOTEL sign and adjacent to the terminal where you can watch for them coming while drinking Sake.

If it were my relatives coming, I'd be drinking LOTS of Sake!
