MGM WestWing vs Luxor Pyramid

Celebrating daughter's birthday and have the Wynn for 2 nites (11/5&6) needed a room for 11/4 (Saturday. This is my sitaution, booked Luxor Pyramid for 11/4 @ 179.99. Found MGM West Wing @ 143.00 (king bed only).

I've heard that MGM is huge;lots of walking. We need the room for one night only. Which would you go for?
Need answer soon.

I haven't stayed at either (been to both many times) but if you plan to leave the Luxor at all then you will probably do much more walking than if you stay at the MGM.

I stayed in the Luxor pyramid about 2 yrs ago and enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and in good shape, but I'm sure that the MGM is too. Obviously though, it won't compare to your stay at Wynn.

Saps is right about the walking. The MGM may be bigger and have more walking inside, but if you plan to walk to different casinos, MGM has a better location. If you take a cab to different casinos, the it probably wouldn't matter other than a small difference in fares.

The decor of MGM drives me crazy, and the size too, but I like Wolfgang Puck's cafe if it is still in there.

Luxor is good for teens (you don't say your daughter's age), they have a movie/arcade/activity floor. As long as you are going to be at the Wynn for two nights, you might want to be down at the other end by Luxor anyway after that. But because of the price, I myself would probably go for the MGM.

Both are ok, but IMHO they are both overpriced.

Look on www.hotwire.com and see if you can do better for a 1 night. Take a chance, and be adventurous, you are going to have to move anyway.

I used to do one night, on the way in or out coming/going to AZ and always could get much better than $143.00 when people told me it was impossible.

Rio and Palms are real big with my college crowd, and I got Rio for $69 on a Sat. night on Priceline when the rack rate was $229.00 minimum.

Those prices are high for either, but the Luxor has a tram that takes you to the MGM-NYNY-intersection.

I abhor the MGM for its size, & I do kind of like the Luxor (although the casino can get a bit smoky). Of course I usually hang out @ MB, & it is right next door to the Luxor.

Thanks everyone for your input. I did book the West Wing at MGM. My daughter will be 23 next Saturday. We have reservations for KA and Emeril's New Orleans Fish House for her birthday. All in all everything is in one location. I just read there's a big convention next week; which explains the high rates for 11/4/06.

Again, I appreciate the input from everyone. I love this forum.

I think you made the right decision. I have always found the Luxor to be somewhat dark and kinda dreary inside..at least in the public spaces. Yes, that is very subjective but I think the thing the Luxor has is that interesting exterior shape and for me, that's about it.
