Mesa Verde Far View Lodge Dining Reservations

This is for all of us who have room reservations at Far View Lodge and want dinner reservations. After numerous calls and being told the lodge would be open today, I am now told the dining room is not taking reservations at all--first come, first served. Also told that the Lodge guests would not be turned away, but who knows when that means you might get dinner. I don't recall if the dining room took reservations when we were there a number of years ago, but I wanted reservations after being in Yellowstone, since we're a group of 4 and since the Metate Room is really the only decent dining option in the park.

Maybe this will save a number of folks wasted phone calls.

We were there in late September. We walked into the restaurant around 6:30 pm, had a half-hour wait (and we waited for a window table).

Had we been there 5 minutes later, the wait would have been longer. A tour group of about 25 came in just after us. They had to wait as well.

For breakfast, we just walked right in, no wait.

Great food. Worth the wait!

Ruth,

Thank you so much for the information. I e-mailed them several weeks about dinner reservations but did not receive a reply. You saved me a phone call.

For all of you who have had dinner here, do you have any favorites?

Hi Ruth,

When I was there a couple of times, we just walked in, waited a bit(not too long, while having a drink) and were seated. Just wasn't terribly busy. I was there in late June.

No special recs on food-I am a real Far View lover, so am not too picky, although the food was very good.

We also loved the food when we were there previously. I just don't like the lack of honest communication. If they don't take dinner reservations, tell us when we make room reservations and avoid us trying to figure out when to call to make take dinner reservations. When we reserved for the Lake Hotel at Yellowstone, they told us to call for dinner reservations in advance.

What I'm concerned about is what kopp mentioned, a big bus/tour group coming in just ahead of us and having to wait a long time because of the no reservation policy. I'm probably being overly irked and concerned, but I don't want to arrive at the dining room at 7 and not get seated until 9.

But glad to hear that you haven't had trouble getting seated. Makes me feel more comfortable that we'll get dinner at a reasonable time.

For what it's worth: my friend who was a waiter there last year said, if you get there when they first open, the wait should be minimal.
