Hi Jen, We stayed at the Kea Lani and generally really liked it. However, my one complaint was that there was just too much going on there. A lot of corporate functions having breakfast at 6:00 a.m. in the courtyard outside our room. At night, there was a Chef's Tour going on under a giant tent using loudspeakers until 11:30 p.m! We asked to be moved to a different part of the hotel, but apparently they were full. We went with our kids and they loved it. The pool is really fun and they really pamper you! They come around and bring you pineapple by the pool. The rooms are very spacious and the spa was fastastic, although it's probably better now as they were in the middle of remodeling. If you like to snorkel, I would recommend a book called "Snorkeling Maui". It gives very explicit directions to the most awesome places! On the other side of the island, don't miss dinner at Roy's Kahana Bar & Grill and breakfast at The Gazebo at Napili Shores (best breakfast on the island). Nick's Fishmarket at the Kea Lani is fantastic if you have deep pockets, service is the best I've ever had. All in all, we liked the Kea Lani, just would have liked it to be a little more peaceful! Have fun!! Let me know if you have any more questions. We are returning to Maui in July and we will stay at the Four Seasons.

Just back tonight from Maui. Stayed at the Grand Wailea just a few doors down from Kea Lani. 'The Shops at Wailea' is open with stores in all price categories from Tiffany's to ABC general store.

Had a great dinner at Longi's in The Shops. Large prawns cooked in a light sauce with amaretto and brandy. wonderful.

Weather was great, but a bit too humid for me. It's dry where I live.

I'll also recommend Hula Moons Restaurant at the Outrigger. Just remodeled. They used an old Hawaiiana theme -- 1920's or 30's. Very nicely done.

Dolores, could you please comment on the mountain view rooms at the Kea Lani. Are the mountain view rooms okay ? I am just concerned that they might overlook the parking lot. I would apprecaite any insight you might have on this. Thanks.

WE will be going back to the Kea Lani in Feb. Love it, love it. The conventions are a bit much. However, we have enjoyed the upper corner suites facing the ocean towards the end of the island so never were directly bothered by the setting up and taking down of buffets. At sunset they have a hawaiin native ignite all the evening lanterns and then followed by blowing into the shell horn. Pretty cool. Kids loved it. LOL Restaurants are abundant, however, book your reservations early, in order to get the rests. you want. Many are listed under Foor's with phone numbers so maybe do yourself prior to arriving in Maui. Have a great trip.

I think the Kea Lani is a great hotel and I think it is one of the best on Maui actually. If I were you I would contact the Kea Lani hotel via e-mail through their web site www.kealani.com and ask them to send you an interactive CD-ROM, which is free of charge and through this it will better be able to show you the Kea Lani resort almost as though you are actually there.

I actually found out about the CD-ROM through e-mailing the resort numerous questions and the CD-ROM actually allows you to see the resort's rooms Oceanview, Mountain View, etc. and allows you to see the view from the balcony or inside the room. Also, as well as bringing you through the lobby and pool/beach area.

The Kea Lani is a great hotel and Zagat Hotel Survey recently rated it highly I think equal with the Grand Wailea Resort.

-By the way Dave, the virtual tour from the Mountain view room balcony shows that the room does look a little over the parking lot. The parking lot is to the far right at this particular room on the tour, and to the left are huge pine trees or something of that sort. The balcony is also covered with flowers on the edge while having a view of the mountain.

Any questions please feel free to post them, otherwise have a great trip!
